This precise moment is a divine appointment

 It will be securely established forever;
    like the moon, a faithful witness in the sky. (Psalm 89:37)

He hung the moon and the stars. He created the entire universe and everything and everyone in it. He has a plan, and it is good. But despite all of this, in spite of the reminders of His faithfulness that surround us continually, the very sun, moon and stars, we still hover near the pit of despair and self-pity. We teeter dangerously on the edge, and if we give in, or submit to Satan’s whispers of our inadequacy, we plunge into the muck.

Avoid the pit. Board over the rabbit holes. This moment, this place, wherever you are, is ordained for you, and allowed by God. Your present circumstance is not an accident to be avoided. It is not a mistake, or an oversight, or some sort of unintended crisis. This moment and your presence in it is serving a purpose. This is a divine appointment. Don’t miss it by walking with your gaze downward or focusing on the past. This is your moment. You have been called for such a time as this, summoned by the Creator.

Lift up your eyes in praise. Fix your gaze upon Jesus. Stay on the ancient path, it leads us home.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace. (Lyrics: Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus, by Hillsong)
