Even though I may feel overwhelmed, and Satan whispers in my ear through the words of others, I am reminded of Matthew 8:26:
Jesus answered, “Why are you afraid? You don’t have enough faith.” Then he stood up and gave a command to the wind and the water. The wind stopped, and the lake became very calm. (Matthew 8:26)
God infuses us with that same calm. When we call He will calm the storms of our lives and provide everything we need to face those storms. When we feel afraid we simply need more faith. How do we increase our faith? Through prayer.
Through “whale belly” prayers, through silent groans of the spirit, through the prayers of others who lift us up, and through our deliberate prayers- our conversations with God. Next time you feel fear creeping in stop and boost your faith with prayer.
(Matthew 6:9) So this is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven,
we pray that your name will always be kept holy.
We pray that your kingdom will come—
that what you want will be done here on earth, the same as in heaven.
Give us the food we need for today.
Forgive our sins,
just as we have forgiven those who did wrong to us.
Don’t let us be tempted,
but save us from the Evil One.
