From antiquity to eternity…

And Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David, to be registered along with Mary, who was engaged to him and was pregnant. (Luke 2:4-6)

The location of Jesus birth, in Bethlehem, was prophesied.

Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah;
One will come from you to be ruler over Israel for Me.
His origin is from antiquity, from eternity. (Micah 5:2)

The name, Bethlehem, translates to “House of Bread”. What a perfect birthplace for the Bread of life, the Bread that came down from heaven.

Mary, engaged to David and pregnant, traveled with him to register. Her identity joined with Joseph’s and they were both registered in Judea. She followed where God led. She availed herself, her body and her identity, to His purpose.

This holiday season is the perfect time to avail ourselves to His purpose. Are we living for self or are we living for Him? Are we promoting our own agenda, or are we letting God work through us for His good purposes?

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)
