Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe” Hebrews 12:28

A glance at the news is enough to let us know that the world we live in is shaken pretty easily and pretty regularly. But we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken- a kingdom that is secure because the Christ is the Cornerstone. His secure kingdom has no news coverage featuring catastrophic events, or shocking stories- there are no devastating events in heaven.

No matter what happens in this life, we know that our eternal life is secure. No matter what happens in this life, if we rely on Christ we will never be stricken with panic.

So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. (Isaiah 28:16)

And now a note about Advent:

Advent starts on November 29, just a little over three weeks from now. In the past few weeks we’ve sourced the Advent display items and prepared for Advent. We’ll spend the next two weeks integrating Advent into Thanksgiving. Since the first Sunday of Advent is three days after Thanksgiving it is easy to do.

Consider designing simple place holders, or napkin rings, for the Thanksgiving table. Include a Bible verse on one side and an Advent verse or celebration idea on the other.
