Be still

Psalm 46 10

Why do they call it “rush hour” traffic? No one is rushing. We’re hardly even moving. It should be more aptly called “crawling along traffic” or “wait an hour” traffic. It is so easy to become frazzled and impatient. After all we’re so busy, meeting everyone’s needs, and trying to eek out some time for ourselves, and for what- to wait in more traffic, more lines, and more delays.

But wait, be still. Today’s verse reminds us to be still and know that He is God. He will direct our path, He will meet our needs, and He will take care of us. The only thing required of us is to be still. It’s harder than it sounds. When were you last still? Completely still, sitting with the knowledge that He is God. Be still.
