Celebrating His Presence: Advent, week 4

Advent_TitleSlide1 (1)

This is the fourth Advent Sunday. The fourth candle represents the Love and Presence of the Savior. His Presence is our present- all the rest is fluff, He is the Celebration. Light all four Advent candles each day leading up to Christmas. The birth of Jesus was prophesied hundreds of years before He was born:

His Presence Among Us: Over 400 years before Jesus, Zechariah foretold how God would one day come and live with men. “‘Shout and be glad, O Daughter of Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,’ declares the Lord. ‘Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you’” (Zechariah 2:10-11). [text adapted from CelebratingHolidays.com]

His Presence as a Human: Jesus left the splendor of heaven to be live on earth as a man. Therefore, “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness” (Philippians 2:5-7). [text adapted from CelebratingHolidays.com]

When I joined the ranks of humanity, born into the humblest conditions, My Glory was hidden from all but a few people. Occasionally, streaks of Glory shone out of Me, especially when I began to do miracles. Toward the end of My life, I was taunted and tempted to display more of My awesome Power than My Father’s plan permitted. I could have called down legions of angels to rescue Me at any point. imagine the self-control required of the martyr who could free Himself at will! All of this was necessary to provide the relationship with Me that you now enjoy. Let your life become a praise song to Me by proclaiming My glorious Presence in the world. -Jesus Calling, Sarah Young
