Finding joy in the circumstances, under the strain of the seemingly endless journey, can be a challenge. But joy is in all circumstances because God is present in all circumstances. Sometimes we search for joy as a hidden treasure, other times it is the result of our obedience, but it is always present.
“Surely you have granted him unending blessings
and made him glad with the joy of your presence.” Psalm 21:6
Begin by remembering that I have created this day; it is not a chance occurrence. Recall that I am present with you whether you sense My Presence or not. Then, start talking with me about whatever is on your mind. Rejoice in the fact that I understand you perfectly and I know exactly what you are experiencing. As you continue communicating with Me, your mood will gradually lighten. Awareness of My marvelous Companionship can infuse Joy into the grayest day. -Sarah Young, Jesus Calling
“Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.” Proverbs 2:9
Obedience can yield joy in a circumstance. Obedience lets the believer stop fighting and turn control over to God- that action edges out worry and makes room for joy.
“Every believer must choose whether he will live by the principle of obedience or follow his preferences. When a person commits to doing the Lord’s will, then every situation and decision is sifted through the standard of “God said it, so I’m going to do it—and that’s the end of it.” He may complain, weep, or try to argue. But in the end he will be obedient, no matter what.
Our lives are about fulfilling God’s purpose. Many people miss His awesome plan for them because they choose to follow their preferences. Obedience is sometimes hard, but the struggle and sacrifice are worth it. There is joy and peace for the believer who pleases the Lord and lives by His principles.” Dr. Charles Stanley
Every morning, you wake up to three enemies- the world, the flesh, and the devil. How do you handle these enemies? You must be filled with the Holy Spirit- listening to and walking with Him moment by moment. -Walking with God, Life Principle #22
