Most days when I read Jesus Calling (Sarah Young) I feel as if she has written the daily devotional just for me- and today that was especially true. In addition to working with the struggle each day I am also balancing several health issues. Last night I was feeling especially frustrated about the toll that the health issues were taking. I try hard not to indulge in feeling sorry for myself, but last night was frustrating. This morning I woke up renewed and sat down first thing to my devotional, and today’s Jesus Calling devotional was spot on:
“Accept each day exactly as it comes to you. By that, I mean not only the circumstances of your day but also the condition of your body. Your assignment is to trust Me absolutely, resting in my sovereignty and faithfulness.
On some days, your circumstances and your physical condition feel out of balance: The demands on you seem far greater than your strength. Days like that present a choice between two alternatives- giving up and relying on Me.”
“I will lead them beside streams of water
on a level path where they will not stumble” Jeremiah 31:9
“I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint” Jeremiah 31:25
God leads, refreshes, and satisfies.
You get the greatest amount of comfort, assurance, and confidence when you spend time alone with God. He speaks to you and encourages your heart. He lifts you up and shares His viewpoint, letting you know- from His perspective- what you should do next. -Walking With God, Life Principle #8
