“God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.” Psalm 46:10
God tells us not to fear even if the world is falling apart. Whether the world is literally falling apart or if the circumstance we face makes it seem that way, God is our refuge and strength and we will not fear.
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind” Luke 10:27
It isn’t possible to carry out this command and still worry because there is no room for worry if all of your heart, soul, strength, and mind are committed to loving God. If we waste part of our heart, soul, strength (energy), or mind by worrying we are defying God’s instruction. Deny worry- there is simply no room for it.
God promises us rest and peace. There is no room for worry in those promises. Claiming God’s promises of rest and peace when worry tempts us is one way to turn a back to worry.
“In resurrection stillness, there is resurrection power.” -Streams in the Desert
“You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called from its remotest parts and said to you, ‘You are My servant, I have chosen you and not rejected you. Do not fear, for I am with you, do not anxiously look about you, for I am you your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'” Isaiah 41:9
If I expect God to turn all the circumstances of my life into something good, then I must be willing to trust Him, love Him, and surrender to Him. -Walking With God, Life Principle #2
