Spoiled feet, tongue, or thoughts

God loves us so much that He sent his son to die for our sins- yours, mine, and even the giants in our lives. God loves us so much that He gave us the Bible to navigate how to live-how to think, interact, and even define our purpose. God loves us so much that He even tells us how to get back to Him if we drift.

“But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.” -Deuteronomy 4:29

“There” referenced in the verse is a place of corruption, of evil, and idolatry. God is saying to the people of Israel that even after He has laid down the law, He knows they will not keep the laws- that they will sin, fall to corruption, and worship idols. God in His divine wisdom loving them and us in spite of ourselves, has already put a provision in place that they can seek Him and find Him and that promise is still true today.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23

Seek Me with your whole being. I desire to be found by you, and I orchestrate the events of your life with that purpose in mind. When things go well and you are blessed, you can feel Me smiling on you. When you encounter rough patches along your life-journey, trust that My Light is still shining on you. -Sarah Young, Jesus Calling

Our intimacy with God- His highest priority for our lives- determines the impact of our lives. -Walking With God, Life Principle #1

He catches the wise in their craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are swept away.” -Job 5:13

Never tolerate through sympathy with yourself or with others any practice that is not keeping with a holy God. Holiness means unsullied walking with the feet, unsullied talking with the tongue, unsullied thinking with the mind- every detail of the life under the scrutiny of God. Holiness is not only what God gives me, but what I manifest that God has given me.  -Oswald Chambers

Are we walking with unsullied (spoiled) feet? Are we going in the right direction- the way that God wants us to go? Or are we walking away from God and doing what we want to, or even what we we may have tolerated and convinced ourselves is right? Do we even know why we’re going in the direction we are; are we mid-whirlwind and do not even know which way is up anymore? Are our feet so stuck in the muck of an environment that is so disillusioned we can’t see the truth? If we aren’t sure that our feet are not spoiled and our path is not clear God promises that if we seek Him with all of our heart and soul we will find Him  and He will straighten our path. (2 Samuel 22)

Are we talking with an unsullied tongue? Do we use our words to empower or divide? Are we holding up truth- do we know the truth? If we don’t recognize the truth, or have lost control of our tongue, God promises that if we seek Him with all of our heart we will find Him and He will tame our tongue. (James 3).

Are our thoughts unsullied? Are our thoughts even clear? Have we become so influenced by society, so disillusioned by man-made perceptions that we have lost the ability to think critically or fairly evaluate conditions? Has our pride taken over causing us to no longer even seek God? Does anxiety cause us to wrestle with our thoughts? If we have lost the ability to think clearly, God promises that if we seek Him with all of our heart we will find Him and He will bring us clarity. (Proverbs 15)

Know you are His, that He directs your path, has tamed your tongue, and has brought clarity to your mind.

The Lord watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.” –Psalm 145:20
