“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.” -Philippians 1:9-11
“Prayers is the choice tool God has given us to reach Him, speak to Him, plead our case before Him, and receive all we need from Him. Unfortunately, we take prayer- one of the greatest blessings He has given us- for granted. It is not a sin to feel inadequate when thinking about the things God may require of us. Feeling inadequate is a part of recognizing our dependence upon Him- upon His awesome power, wisdom, love, and holiness.
When God calls you, He is not looking for information on what needs to be done or how difficult the task is. He already knows exactly what to do in every situation. He created you. He gave you abilities, talents, and skills. And He knows exactly how to help you accomplish His will through His power and strength.” -Walking With God, Life Principle #17
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” -Isaiah 43:18
A new thing- a blessing! A focus on the here and now and being on watch for the blessings- the new things that God promises.
I love back to school time. As a kid I think I liked that time of year more than most- it was full of new things! New shoes, new classes, new teachers, and new school supplies! When I was older I loved preparing my kids for back to school, but recent conversations have confirmed they did not exactly share in my excitement.
I still love those back to school supplies and the excitement of new beginnings that they represent. Now that my kids are older and not really using pencil boxes and colored rulers in college, I thought my days of reveling in the smell of new paper at Staples may have come to an end. I was in Staples the other day and had an awful lot of rewards points to use up. I picked out a few fun items for my nieces and put together a fun back to school gift for them. I put the rest of my rewards on a gift card and sent it off to a friend of mine who I know will appreciate using them for her children and their back to school experience.
Accept each day just as it comes to you. Do not waste your time and energy wishing for a different set of circumstances. Instead, trust Me enough to yield to My design and purposes. Remember that nothing can separate you from My loving Presence; you are Mine. -Sarah Young, Jesus Calling
