“Surely you have granted him unending blessings
and made him glad with the joy of your presence.” Psalm 21:6
“God will make obstacles to serve His purpose. We all have mountains in our lives- people and things that threaten to bar our progress, heavy claims, that daily cross- we might think that if these things were removed we might live purer, tenderer, holier lives, and often we pray for their removal.
These are the very conditions of achievement; they have been put into our lives as the means to the very graces and virtues for which we have been praying so long. Patience can be acquired only through just such trials as now seem unbearable.
Go back; submit thyself. Claim to be a partaker in the patience of Jesus. Meet thy trials in Him. There is nothing in life which harasses and annoys that may not become subservient to the highest ends. They are His mountains. He puts them there. And when we come to the foot of the mountain, He will lead the way.” -Streams in the Desert
“Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.” John 7:24
The meaning of trial is not only to test worthiness, but to increase it; as the oak is not only tested by the storms, but toughened by them. -Streams in the Desert
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:38
God does not give us overcoming life; He gives us life as we overcome. The strain is the strength. If there is no strain, there is no strength. Are you asking God to give you life and liberty and joy? He cannot, unless you will accept the strain. Immediately you face the strain, you will get the strength. God never gives strength for tomorrow, or for the next hour, but only for the strain of the minute. The temptation is to face difficulties from a common-sense standpoint. The saint is hilarious when he is crushed with difficulties because the thing is so ludicrously impossible to anyone but God. -Oswald Chambers
“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:11
Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him. Those of us who are followers of Jesus Christ should be very interested in the consequences of our actions because they will have impact either for good or evil. You will not make wise decisions in life unless you wholeheartedly believe this one basic, theological fact- God is absolutely sovereign. You and I may not know or understand all the reasons why God allows certain things to happen. He doesn’t promise that. What He guarantees us is that whatever we face in life, He is going to be with those of us who are His children. -Walking With God, Life Principle #2
